Biography

THIS YEAR: Possibly the best Lancer to step on the court, Verania Willis is an explosive hitter and good jumper ... One of most improved players defensively ... Expecting to have big impact offensively and as a blocker ... Is a threat from everywhere she plays.

 

2006: Earned her second NAIA All-American First-Team selection ... Named to the All-GSAC Team ... Selected as a GSAC Scholar Athlete ... Named to the NAIA All-Tournament Team ... Chosen twice as the GSAC Player of the Week (Oct. 30 and Nov. 13) ... Ranked ninth in the nation and third in the conference in kills-per-game (4.63) ... Hit .640 (17-1-25) against Lee (Tenn.) ... Recorded 34 kills versus Point Loma Nazarene ... Notched 19 digs against Fresno Pacific ... Blocked seven attacks against Biola.

 

2005: Became the school’s first NAIA Women’s Volleyball Player of the Year ... Ripped 650 kills, good for second-most on the school single-season charts ... Averaged 5.46 kills per game ... Was second on the team with a .315 hitting percentage ... Was third on the team with 92 blocks ... Was also third with 290 digs ... Earned a school-record five GSAC Player of the Week honors ... Reached double digits in kills in every match in which she played ... Tied the school record for kills in a four-game match with 33 ... Set program record for kills in a three-game match with 25 against Southern Oregon ... Eclipsed 20 kills on 14 different occasions ... Racked up 10 blocks (tied for second-most on the school charts) against Azusa Pacific.

 

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Played the 2004 season at Palm Beach Community College in Lake Worth, Fla., for head coach Sam Skelton ... Earned all-state and NJCCAA All-Region honors ... Was named to the state all-tournament team ... Posted season totals of 667 kills, 731 digs, 184 blocks and 89 aces ... Led the nation with 6.29 kills per game, third with 6.90 digs, 12th with 1.74 blocks and 13th with 0.84 aces ... Earned FCCAA All-Academic honors.

 

CLUB: Is a current member of the Costa Rica National Team, leading Costa Rica to its seventh straight Central America Cup championship in 2004 ... Is a two-time MVP of the Central America Cup, winning the honor in 2002 and 2004.

 

OTHER: Majoring in business administration ... Works on campus in Game Management ... Goes by “Vera”.
