2019-20
Set new program record in 200-yard butterfly, with a time of 1:47.04 at the 2019 Pepperdine Winter Invite... Qualified for the 2020 CSCAA National Invitational Championships in the 200 fly (1:47.04) and 500 (4:26.92), 1000 (9:25.44) and 1650 freestyles (15:42.57)... Clocked two top-three times in CBU history in the 500 free (4:26.92) and 1650 free (15:42.57)... Took ninth in 500 free (4:26.92), 10th in 1650 free (15:42.57) and 12th in 200 fly (1:49.69) at 2020 WAC Championships... Won 200 fly at Malibu (1:51.85) and UNLV Invites (1:47.69) and in a dual at Grand Canyon (1:48.78)... Also took third in 500 free (4:32.13) at UNLV Invite. 

2018-19
Took eighth in the 200 butterfly (1:49.49) and 10th in the 1650 free (15:49.40) at the WAC Championships... Swam personal bests in the 200 butterfly (third, 1:47.68); 1650 free (fourth, 15:49.40) and 100 fly (eighth, 49.24), which all rank in CBU's all-time top-10... Took seventh in the 200 fly (1:50.01) at the Mizzou Invite.

2017-18
Logged an NCAA Division II B cut of 1:49.43 in the 200 fly at the RMAC Championships... Placed fifth in the 200 fly (1:49.43), 12th in the 1000 free (9:40.34), 13th in the 100 fly (51.10) and 14th in the 1650 free (16:48.86) at the conference championships... Won the 200 fly against Pomona-Pitzer (1:55.83).

2016-17
Swam nine different events as a sophomore... Logged top-10 record times in 1000-yard freestyle (9:26.74, fourth), 100 individual medley (54.10, sixth) and 200 butterfly (1:50.32, seventh)... Swam second-best, 50 free time of the year for CBU at 21.10... Took fourth in 200 butterfly (1:52.47), fifth in 1000 free (9:38.14) and 11th (50.14) in 100 fly at RMAC Championships... Finished second in 200 butterfly in a dual with UC San Diego (1:54.34).

GRAND CANYON UNIVERSITY
Attended Grand Canyon University for the 2015-2016 season.
 
HIGH SCHOOL
Prepped four varsity seasons at San Clemente High School in San Clemente, Calif., where he graduated in 2014... Set school records in the 400 freestyle and 400-medley relay.  

PERSONAL
Parents are Cheryl and Dean Birtles... Born in Scottsdale, Ariz., and raised in San Clemente... Has two siblings, Ty and Dane... Cousin, Natalie Willis, competes on the USC women’s soccer team... Majoring in business administration with plans to own or manage a hotel after graduation... Hobbies include biking and body surfing.
