Alex Tebbe joined California Baptist University as an assistant coach for the cross country and track and field programs ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Tebbe comes to CBU following 10 seasons on the coaching staff at Cal State Fullerton, where he helped build one of the Big West Conference’s most successful distance programs. During his tenure with the Titans, he contributed to sustained success across women’s and men’s cross country as well as indoor and outdoor track and field.
Tebbe helped guide the Fullerton women’s cross country team to the first Big West Conference Championship in program history in 2019. He also helped the Titans capture five Big West Outdoor Track and Field team championships on the men’s side and one on the women’s side, with both programs posting top-10 finishes at the NCAA West Region Cross Country Championships.
Throughout his coaching career, Tebbe has coached 40 All-Big West performers, including 16 in cross country and 24 in track and field. His athletes have won eight individual Big West titles, while 11 qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary Championships. He also coached two NCAA Championship qualifiers in the women’s 800 meters, including a Second-Team All-American in 2019, and mentored athletes to 16 indoor and outdoor school records.
Tebbe’s student-athletes have also excelled academically, with 46 earning Big West All-Academic honors and two earning USTFCCCA All-Academic Team recognition.
Tebbe was hired by Loyola Marymount University as an assistant coach in 2026 before joining the CBU coaching staff.
Prior to beginning his coaching career, Tebbe was a four-year student-athlete at UC Irvine, where he competed as a distance runner for the Anteaters. He earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology and social behavior with an emphasis in social ecology in 2015.
Tebbe grew up in Cypress, California, and is a Southern California native. He has been married to his wife, Courtney, for seven years. Courtney is a math teacher and the girls’ cross country and track & field coach at Tesoro High School. The couple recently welcomed their first child, a son named Carson.
