Dr. David Pearson joined the faculty of California Baptist University in 2001 and began serving as Faculty Athletics Representative at in 2009.
During his tenure at CBU, Dr. Pearson has held the positions of Chair of the kinesiology department and Associate Provost for Administration, and since 2015 Pearson has been the Dean of the College of Health Science.
An East Coast native, Pearson received his bachelor’s in health and physical education, with minors in health science and coaching, from West Chester University (Pa.), his master’s in sport management from WCU and his Ph.D. in educational leadership and policy studies from the University of California, Riverside.
Pearson is active in many professional organizations including the Society of Health and Physical Educators; National Intramural and Recreational Sports Association; North American Society for Sport Management; and National Strength and Conditioning Association, within which he earned the rank of “Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist”. He routinely makes scholarly presentations to these organizations at regional and national conferences.
Pearson has taught health and physical education at the middle and high school levels, and he has coached high school football, wrestling, track & field and baseball. He has worked in collegiate athletic administration at the Division I and II levels as well as collegiate recreation management. Dr. Pearson previously served as the Chair of the NCAA Division II Wrestling Committee and as a member of the NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship Committee.
A resident of Riverside, Pearson and his wife, Suzanne, have two sons Brett and Colt.
