Julie Snodgrass was named the fifth head coach in the history of California Baptist University women's water polo in June 2022.
In 2025, Coach Snodgrass led the Lancers to a 12-16 record, including a 3-4 mark in GCC play. CBU was 6-4 in their home pool and posted a pair of ranked victories over #19 CSUN and #18 San Diego State. The win over SDSU was the program's first since 2001 and the first ever since the Lancers joined the Gold Coast Conference. CBU was ranked as high as #22 in the CWPA national polls during the season. The Lancers set the single-game program record for goals in a single game in 2025, netting 28 against Redlands at The Joust Tournament at the Lancer Aquatics Center. Under Snodgrass's tutelage the Lancers landed two players on the All-GCC list with Celeste Almendariz earning a spot on the second team and Kyra Kahahawai bring an honorable mention. CBU finished 5th in the GCC standings and would fall to SDSU in the quarterfinals and APU in the 5th Place match to place 6th.
In her second season, Coach Snodgrass led the Lancers to an 11-19 record and a 3-4 conference mark. The three conference victories were tied for the most since 2015 and the team's five home wins were the most since 2019. CBU finished 5th in the conference during the regular contest before falling in the 5th Place Match in the GCC Tournament to Azusa Pacific.
In 2023, the Lancers finished 15-19 overall, including an impressive 11-6 neutral record. CBU went a perfect 4-0 at the Tina Finali Invitational in Thousand Oaks and 3-1 at the Indiana Classic in Bloomington. CBU also defeated Santa Clara in the GCC Tournament in the seventh place game to earn its second straight season with a postseason victory.
Snodgrass, a former CBU student-athlete, returns to Riverside after serving as the head coach at Azusa Pacific the past 11 years. She was named the 2018 NCAA Division II Coach of the Year with the Cougars and is the program's all-time winningest coach, with 123 wins, highlighted by the two most successful seasons in APU history during the 2018 and 2019 campaigns.
The Cougars registered double-digit wins seven consecutive seasons, with a program-best 19 wins in 2019. Overall, APU amassed a 123-182 overall record and 20-36 mark in the Golden Coast Conference with Snodgrass at the helm.
Over the last eight years under Snodgrass, 13 Cougars combined for 20 NCAA Division II All-America honors, while eight players totaled 13 All-Golden Coast Conference awards, along with nine GCC All-Freshman Team selections. Additionally, she coached the 2021 Division II Player of the Year (Milena Guzmán Ortiz) and 2015 Golden Coast Conference Newcomer of the Year (Alba Espinar).
Julie played four years (2005-08) at CBU, earning ACWPC All-Academic honors throughout her career while tallying 133 career goals, 112 assists and 137 steals. She helped lead the Lancers to program-records for season win totals in two of her four collegiate seasons, including a 26-win campaign in her senior year when CBU won the NAIA National Invitational Tournament.
Snodgrass began her coaching career as an assistant girl's water polo coach in 2006 at her high school alma mater, Rowland High in Rowland Heights. She took her first head coaching position at San Dimas High in 2009, guiding the Saints' water polo program while also leading the girl's swim team to a 10th-place team finish at the CIF Championships. Snodgrass also worked with USA Water Polo as the Coastal Zone head coach (2013-16), aiding in the selection process for the National Training Camps where athletes are selected for National Teams.
