Kamille Gouveia

Kamille Gouveia was named Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at California Baptist University (CBU) in June 2022. She returns to the CBU campus, where she was a four-year starter for the Lancers under Head Coach Jarrod Olson. During her collegiate playing career (2013–2017), Gouveia compiled an impressive 109-25 record and was recognized as the Freshman of the Year for the 2013–2014 season. In 2022, she was inducted into the CBU Athletics Hall of Fame, solidifying her legacy as one of the program’s all-time greats. Her legacy was further solidified after the 2016-17 Women's Basketball team she was an integral part of was inducted into the CBU Hall of Fame in 2025.

Since graduating in 2017, Gouveia has played professionally overseas and gained coaching experience in Washington and Colorado before returning to her alma mater. In her first season as an assistant coach, the women’s basketball team finished 22-13 with a 13-5 conference record. The team’s 22 wins marked their third consecutive 20-win season and their fifth winning season since transitioning to Division I. CBU reached the WAC Championship game for the second time in three years, defeating #5 Utah Tech and #1 Stephen F. Austin along the way. The Lancers were later invited to the Women’s Basketball Invitational, where they claimed the championship by defeating North Dakota, Georgia Southern, and New Mexico State.

Over the past two seasons, the CBU women’s basketball team has achieved significant milestones. During the 2022–2023 season, the Lancers finished fifth in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) regular season and advanced to the WAC Tournament semifinals, narrowly missing an NCAA Tournament berth. In the 2023–2024 season, CBU captured its second-ever WAC Tournament title with a thrilling 75-74 victory over Stephen F. Austin, in which Chloe Webb was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player. This victory earned the team an automatic bid to its first NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Tournament, marking a historic milestone for the program.

Gouveia spent the 2021–2022 season as an assistant coach at the U.S. Air Force Academy under Head Coach Chris Gobrecht. During her tenure, she helped lead the Falcons to a program-best 19 wins, including 11 in the Mountain West Conference. The team earned an at-large bid to the Women’s National Invitational Tournament (WNIT), where they secured their first-ever postseason win by defeating San Francisco 64-60 in the first round.

Before her time in Colorado Springs, Gouveia served as a graduate assistant coach and video coordinator at CBU during the Lancers’ historic 26-1 season. Prior to her coaching stint at California Baptist, Gouveia was the graduate assistant coach for the women’s basketball program at Central Washington University where she also earned her Masters of Science.

Gouveia began her professional playing career with CB Igualada in Spain, where she helped her team achieve a top-three finish in the Copa Catalunya League. As a student-athlete at CBU, Gouveia set the program's career assists record (688), earned all-conference honors four times, and played a pivotal role in leading the Lancers to two NCAA Division II Final Four appearances and one NCAA Division II Championship runner-up finish.
