Vic Sfera was announced as the Associate Head Coach on coach Kyle Getter’s inaugural coaching staff in April 2026. Sfera joins the Lancers with detailed experience at the Division I level, most recently as an assistant coach at Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN.
"Vic is someone I worked closely with while we were assistants at Liberty," said Getter. "He possesses an incredible attention to detail, ability to cultivate relationships, and a strong ability to communicate. He is a tremendous addition to our coaching staff. I am excited to welcome Vic, his wife Rachel, and their sons Lucas and Clay to CBU."
In Sfera’s one season in Nashville, Lipscomb finished 19-13, including a 12-6 mark in ASUN Conference action. The Bison averaged 79.7 PPG, an increase from the year before, and shot 46 percent from the field.
Before joining the Lipscomb staff, Sfera spent seven seasons as an assistant coach at Charlotte. During his time in Charlotte, the 49ers achieved their first top three finish since 2006 and tied program records with 13 conference victories and 13 home wins. The 49ers also achieved their first ranked victory since 2013, a 70-68 win against No. 17 Florida Atlantic.
During the 2022-23 season, Charlotte won the program’s first postseason tournament title when the 49ers won the College Basketball Invitational in Daytona Beach, FL.
Before moving to Charlotte, Sfera crossed paths with Getter at Liberty University. During his time with the Flames, Liberty won 43 games, reached a Big South Conference Tournament Championship game, and made it to at least the quarterfinals of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament each season.
Sfera added four seasons at Virginia before his tenure at Liberty. While on coach Tony Bennett’s staff, Sfera spent two seasons as the Director of Scouting/Recruiting. The Cavaliers made the NCAA Tournament three times in Sfera’s tenure, including one trip to the Elite Eight and an ACC Regular Season Championship.
His resume also includes two seasons as an Assistant Coach at Northern Arizona, and a year as the head team manager during his senior year at the University of Memphis.
In addition to collegiate coaching experience, Sfera was a member of the technical staff for the U16 Romanian National Team and worked with the squad during the 2016 FIBA European Championships. In this role, he assisted with scouting, practice planning and skill development.
Sfera earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Memphis in interdisciplinary studies with a concentration in behavioral sciences and sport studies in 2010. He earned his master’s degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University in 2013.
Sfera, a California native, and his wife Rachel have two children, Lucas and Clay.
