LANCERS OUT-WHIT POETS
RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Ryan Steiger ripped 6 goals in the opener, and David Graves teamed up with Jason Bills in the nightcap, as No. 20-ranked California Baptist notched a pair of wins.
The Lancers bump their season record to 18-7 with the pair of wins, which stretch their current winning streak to 4 games.
Josh Harris got the Lancers up on the board less than a minute into the evening, 13-6, win over Whittier, and California Baptist was off to the races from that point on, gaining a lead of 3-1 after one period before going up 6-3 at the half.
The Poets made it interesting in the fourth quarter on a goal from Jake Zerbe that brought Whittier within 4, at 10-6, but the Lancers responded with 3 unanswered goals, including 2 by Jason Bills, to end it.
While Bills found the net 3 times in the closing period, David Graves quietly scored one goal in each of the game's final 3 quarters.
In the opener against Gannon (PA), Steiger notched 6 scores, including 3 in the first period as California Baptist sprinted out to a 17-8 win. The Golden Knights pulled within 4, at 12-8, thanks to 3 consecutive goals by Charles Doane, but Andrew Thacker's only goal on the day initiated a 5-0 Lancer run as California Baptist put the game well out of reach.
Charlie Weaver scored twice in the third period, where the Lancers outscored Gannon, 4-1.

Ahead by a trio of goals at the half, California Baptist ran away with the game with a 4-0 third-quarter run featuring a 2 goals by Charlie Weaver to make the score 12-5. Charles Doane netted 3 of his team-high 4 goals to pull his team within 4, at 12-8, but the Lancers pulled away following an Andrew Thacker goal that set the home team on a 5-0 rally to end the game.

Jason Bills and David Graves scored 3 goals apiece for the Lancers, who jumped out to a 6-3 halftime lead thanks to a trio of goals in the first period. Whittier's Jake Zerbe scored to make it 10-6 with a little over five minutes left on the game clock, but 2 goals by Bills and a score by Graves put the game well out of reach in favor of the country's No. 20-ranked team.
