THIS YEAR: After living up to his billing as an impact player as a transfer last year, Mike Looy will be a key returner as a 2006 senior ... Unselfish player ... Plays both ends of the pool ... Needs to step up and take over offense ... Matches up with opponents’ big man ... His year to be the go-to guy ... Consistent in every part of the game ... Quietly gets the job done.
2005: An excellent player at the junior college level, Looy never missed a beat as a 2005 transfer ... Was third on the team with 28 goals and 27 assists ... Was second with 31 steals ... Scored 3 times vs. Claremont-Mudd (9/28) ... Found the net twice in each of the first 2 games on the season ... Also scored twice against Claremont-Mudd (9/10) and Occidental (9/23) ... Dished out 3 assists vs. BYU-Hawaii (10/7) ... Posted a pair of assists 5 times ... Ripped off 5 steals twice: UC Davis (9/17) and BYU-Hawaii (10/5).
SWIMMING: Earned All-American honors in the 100 freestyle and was part of the national champion 200 free relay sqaud at the 2006 NAIA National Championships.
RIVERSIDE CC: Attended Riverside Community College for 2 years (2003-04 and 2004-05) ... Played 2 years of water polo ... Posted a school-record career 122 assists ... Also was in school’s top-5 with 100 goals over his tenure ... Led the team in scoring with 56 goals in 2004 ... Also swam for 2 seasons ... Posted top times in the 50 and 100 free in 2003-04.
HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Poly High in Riverside in 2003 ... Played 3 years of varsity water polo and swam for 4 varsity seasons ... Earned Ivy League first team honors in all 3 polo seasons ... Was named co-MVP of CIF Division 5 by The Riverside Press-Enterprise as a senior ... Team went 83-12, capturing Ivy League Championships throughout career ... Received All-American honors in swimming all 3 seasons ... Swim team was 4-time Ivy League champions.
OTHER: Majoring in visual arts ... Plans on being a high school art teacher ... Enjoys snowboarding, playing computer games, beach trips and relaxing.
