RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- A trio of Lancers netted 3 goals apiece to lead No. 20-ranked California Baptist to a smooth, 11-5, victory over Riverside CC Thursday afternoon.
Aside from one-goal contributions by Charlie Weaver and Aaron Abellano, the threesome of David Graves, Ryan Steiger and Josh Harris each scored 3 goals on the afternoon for the Lancers, who had built up an 8-2 lead midway through the final period.
The Lancers made the win streak 5 in a row, as they improve to 19-7, including an unblemished 3-0 record against non-varsity opponents. The team will be tested tomorrow, with a matchup against Harvard, which was ranked No. 8 in the latest CWPA polling.
Abellano started off the scoring for the Lancers with just 2:56 remaining in the first period, but RCC's Sdran Millic, the brother of former Lancer Goran Milic, tied up the game at 1-1 just 20 seconds later. RCC then got out to a 2-1 lead on Jeff Gouailihardou's lone goal of the contest, but Harris scored the first of his 3 goals to tie up the game at 2-2 at the end of the first period.
A goal by Graves just a minute and a half into the second period put California Baptist up to stay, as the team went on a 6-0 run, holding the Tigers scoreless over the 2 middle periods.
