The NAIA's No. 3-ranked and 2-time defending champion Lancers used a match-high 16 kills from freshman Shi Fe to key their way to a 30-12, 30-28, 30-25 win over No. 6 Missouri Baptist Friday night in the Van Dyne Gym.
The win is the Lancers' second straight over a Top 10 team as they improve to 16-2. The Spartans, who split a pair of matches with No. 10 Azusa Pacific and Hope International, yesterday, fall to 13-4.

Fei's first kill of the night was the first point in a 10-1 CBU run that turned an early 6-4 lead into a 16-5 advantage. When she wasn't connecting on 3 of her own kills in the run, Fei was assisting on Lauren Briley's run-ending kill. Bonilla then recorded a kill to give the Lancers an 18-7 lead before Briley served off 5 straight points, capped by an ace that gave the Lancers a 23-7 advantage. The Lancers hit a dazzling .406 in the opening game.
The Spartans seemed ready to make a match of it after opening a 23-17 lead in the second game. Hoewver, the Lancers, keyed by Briley's serve again, ripped off 5 straight points to get within 23-22. The Spartans held the Lancers at bay for the next few points until back-to-back attack e

Again, with the third game tied at 21-21, the Lancers went to Fei, who ripped a kill for the first of 3 straight Lancer points as they took control at 24-21. The Spartans got within 25-23, but Bonilla put down a pair of kills to lift the Lancers.
