SAN DIEGO, Calif. ? Sophomore Brenna Hahn drained three treys and was a perfect 12-for-12 from the free-throw line to score a team-high 23 points as California Baptist fell 83-74 to UC San Diego in an exhibition game, Tuesday night.
Hahn went 3-for-6 from beyond the arc as the Lancers hit almost 50 percent from the outside.
Junior transfer Kendra Morris and senior Nicole Davis combined for 36 points as Morris scored 19 and Davis had 17. Morris also had a team-high four assists while Bryana Williams grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds.
The Lancers out rebounded the Tritons, 42-38, and shot a better percentage from the three-point and free-throw line, but 26 turnovers by CBU compared to just 11 from UCSD made the difference in the contest.
California Baptist, who hit 53.8 percent from beyond the arc in the first half, went cold in the second half going just 3-for-8. It was just the opposite from the charity stripe as CBU was just 5-for-9 in the first half and hit 21 of its 22 attempts in the second half.
The Lancers didn't lead by more than two and took their last lead at 43-41 with 15:30 left in the second half before UCSD went on an 11-2 run to take a 52-45 lead with 13:30 left. Brenna Hahn hit a pair of free throws and a jumper and Davis also added a bucket to get the Lancers within one at 52-51, but that was as close as CBU came.
California Baptist will now get set for the season opener, Saturday, as it hosts Pacific Union for a 6 p.m. contest at homecoming.
