FULLERTON, Calif. ? Brenna Hahn couldn't have had a better night from the floor going a perfect 8-for-8 from the field in a 90-56 win over Hope International.
The sophomore led the Lancers (11-5, 3-3 GSAC) with 19 points while CBU as a team shot 50.8 percent from the field. Nicole Davis scored 17 to add to her six assists and six steals while Heather Couzens chipped in with 14 points. Davis and Couzens also grabbed six rebounds each. Brianna Estell neared a double-double with nine points and seven boards.
After getting slammed on the boards against Concordia, CBU won the battle against Hope underneath the hoop grabbing 46 rebounds compared to the Royal's 32. The Lancers' defense forced 20 turnovers and held Hope to just 32.7 percent shooting from the floor. CBU also allowed just two 3-pointers the entire game.
CBU scored 16 points off of HIU turnovers and outscored the Royal's bench 25-8.
The Lancers trailed just twice the entire game and that was at 3-2 and 5-4 before Estell sparked a 15-4 run to give CBU a 19-9 lead. Hope cut it to 21-20, but the Lancers answered with a 21-5 run to take a 42-26 lead before taking a 46-30 lead in to the locker room at the half.
It was more of the same in the second half for CBU. The Royals came no closer than 17 points and trailed 65-45 with 11:33 when the Lancers slammed the door shut, scoring 17 straight points to take an 82-45 lead with 6:14 to play. CBU then took its largest lead of the game with 1:56 left when Lisa Herbertson put the Lancers up 90-52.
The win breaks a two-game skid for CBU and sets up a pair of home GSAC contests against The Master's, Thursday, and Point Loma, Jan. 20.
