CLAREMONT, Calif. --- California Baptist University's Ana Mendoza finished second in the 3,000 meters on a rainy Saturday leading a host of Lancers at the Rossi Relays hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
Mendoza, who will run in the 5,000 meters Thursday night at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships, ran a 10:54.65. Natalia Richeri finished 19th (11:48.44).
In the men's 3,000 meters, Sergio Rodriguez ran a personal best 8:55.76 to finish fourth. His time was nearly 20 seconds better than his previous PR. Patrick Mynes finished 13th (9:16.22). Mark Langworthy was 14th (9:20.74).
Javier Madrid (4:27), Chase Williams (4:25), Mitchell Moore (4:21) and Victor Delgado (4:25) combined to lead the men's 4x1600 meter relay team to a third place finish in the 18-team field. Their total time of 17:46.16 put them ahead of teams from Cal State Bakersfield, Vanguard, USC and Azusa Pacific.
