2/27/2011 3:40:00 AM | Men's Track, Women's Track, Track (Distance), Cross Country & Track
The Lancers' women's national qualifying 4x800 meter relay team ran both the sprint medley relay (200, 200, 400 and 800) and the 4x400 relay today, winning both of their heats. Ashlee Cervantes, who will run the 1,000 meters at next week's championships, anchored both relay teams.
"The way the girls ran today, it appears as though they're ready to run a fast time at the championships next week," said Watkins. "This meet served as the perfect tune up meet to get our wheels running and minds focused for next week's national championships."
On the men's side, Chase Williams, who has qualified for the 800 and 1,000 at next week's indoor championships, took three of his teammates with him today to get quality work in before running Friday. They ran both the sprint medley relay and the 4x400 relay. In the sprint medley relay, the Lancers led three legs before finishing third.
In just its second year since being reinstated as a varsity program, CBU will be represented with a contingent at the NAIA National Championships for the second straight year. The competition begins Thursday night at 5:30 p.m. with the semifinal heat of the women's 4x800 meter relay.
