CAMBRIDGE, Mass. --- No. 1 California Baptist University put on a clinic against Harvard Thursday night, sweeping the Crimson in less than an hour.
CBU won each set by double digits going 25-14, 25-12 and 25-15 in the 3-0 victory.
The Lancers got the better of the home team in every major statistical category, including a season-high 13-1 advantage in service aces.
The Lancers jumped out of the gate to a 6-2 lead in the opening game, but the Crimson would keep it close, pulling to within one at 9-8. CBU went on a 10-3 run, though, pulling ahead comfortably for the remainder of the set.
The Crimson did not lead in the second set and held leads at just the 2-1 and 3-2 marks in the third.
A balanced attack by the Lancers was led by Levi Cabral, who ripped 10 kills on just 12 attempts (.750) and one error. Sebastien Steigmeier recorded nine kills with a .389 attack percentage.
Steigmeier led the team with four aces, while Cabral, Mohamed Khattab and Blair Penner each recorded a pair. Penner ran the offensive attack for CBU posting 19 assists.
The Crimson had just one player record more than five kills, hitting just .031 for the match.
The Lancers hit a season-best .466 on the night.
With the win CBU moves to 8-3 on the season. The Lancers continue their East Coast swing, playing in the Volleyball Hall of Fame Classic, in Springfield, Mass., Friday and Saturday.
