The Lancers exploded in the second half against the Seasiders to win by their largest margin of the season, 102-61. The CBU win coupled with a Grand Canyon loss to Academy of Art puts CBU one back in the PacWest standings with four to play.
CBU never trailed in the game and posted season highs in points, assists (32), shooting percentage (60 percent) and margin of victory. The Lancers' 32 helpers also ties a conference high this year and their 102 points is the most a CBU team has scored since putting up 105 against Chaminade on Feb. 20, 2012.
The Lancers took a 14 point lead into the break Thursday and before the 10 minute mark hit in the second half they were up by 30, 79-48.
CBU did most of its work inside, scoring 56 of its 102 points in the paint.
Lancer bigs Jasmine Beverly and Mekiala Qualls both asserted their dominance in the game as Beverly led CBU with 21 points and Qualls posted her third double-double of the year with 20 points and 10 boards.
Lesley Vodicska added an equally impressive double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 steals. Her 10 thefts matches both a season high and ties the third highest single game total in program history. Vodicska also had 10 steals against Concordia on Nov. 24.
A 23-2 run that spanned more than six minutes in the second half helped CBU seize total control of the contest as they went up 85-48 at the 8:31 mark.
CBU put four players in double figures in the game and hit a season high 45 field goals. The Lancers put up the season high offensive numbers while hitting just 7 of 17 3-pointers.
After keeping it relatively close in the first half, BYUH put up just 25 points in the second period as CBU ran away with it.
Shayla Washington led the Seasiders with 23 points.
The win is the seventh straight for CBU and moves the Lancers to 17-5 overall, 11-3 PacWest. BYUH falls to 6-14, 5-9.
CBU has one more game left on its four game Hawaiian road trip, facing Chaminade Saturday night.
