The Lancers fired out of the gates for their fourth straight win at home before heading out on the road for their next four contests.
"I thought we really improved on several things over the last four games," said CBU Head Coach Jarrod Olson. "Our ball movement was much better. We've had double digit assist totals each game at home. That's really opened up the offense for a lot of different players."
The Lancers had a season high 21 assists and five players in double figures Monday night.
CBU once again opened the game on a hot streak, going on a 22-6 run through the first 10 minutes. In the Lancers last four games at home, CBU has outscored opponents 96-27 in the first 10 minutes of play, holding each opponent to single digits during that period.
A 10-2 run by the Penguins would lower the deficit to 10 at 24-14, but Simone Holmes responded with back to back 3-pointers to put CBU up 16. A Myriah Hicks layup just before the half pushed the CBU advantage to 42-18, the Lancers biggest lead of the first half.
Slow starts out of the half had also been a trend for CBU through the last three games, but through the opening four minutes of the second period the Lancers got eight points out of Holmes and pushed it to a 28 point advantage.
The Lancers led by as much as 39 points in the second half. The team's 33-point win was its third largest margin of victory this season and CBU's 93 points were a season high.
The Lancers shot 43.8 percent from the floor and hit 8 of 24 threes.
CBU was led by a trio of 14-point scorers in Jasmine Beverly, Simone Holmes and Mekiala Qualls. The Lancers also out-rebounded the Penguins 52-37 and forced the visitors into 24 turnovers.
Jasmine Cox led Dominican with 14 points in the game.
CBU improves to 14-5 overall and 8-3 in the PacWest, holding on to third place in the conference standings. The Penguins drop to 5-15, 4-8.
The Lancers head out on the road for four games in Hawaii, starting with Hawaii-Hilo on Saturday. All road games can be heard live on cbulancers.com.
