RESULTS
Claremont, Calif. — California Baptist University's swim and dive team competed at the Pomona-Pitzer Relays this Saturday at Haldeman Pool.
The Lancers took first out of six teams with a combined team score of 248 points, beating out Pomona-Pitzer (229 points), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (216 points), University of La Verne (68 points), Concordia University (31 points) and Chapman University (25 points).
Mary Hanson helped the Lancers grab four first-place event finishes, including the women's 200-yard medley relay (1:47.09) with Alena Rumiantceva, Kristina Tchernyschev and Yosita Hapsari. Hanson went on to also top the 3x100-yard backstroke (2:58.23) with Kylie Mihld and Christie Halverson, 400-yard freestyle (3:38.48) with Hapsari, Robin Smallwood and Halverson; and finally the mixed 8x25-yard medley (1:28.66), competing with teammate Tchernyschev and Spencer Shore and Josh Frazer from the men's team.
Freshman Jenna Frazer, Terwilliger, Hapsari and Smallwood helped CBU take first in the women's 500-yard freestyle crescendo relay (4:45.49), while Tchernyschev, Sara Yoshii and Kyndall Terwilliger touched first for the women's 3x100-yard butterfly (3:01.89).
In the 3x100-yard breast, Rumiantceva, Holy Cox and Melody Coleman finished the race with another first-place finish at 3:26.60. Mihld, Coleman, Rumiantceva and Terwilliger accounted for the 400-yard individual medley first-place finish, clocking in at 4:10.40.
On the diving board, sophomore Lauren Skinner took first place on the one-meter board with 249.55 points while Breanne Schlenger took second place with 221.3 points.
Next week, just the divers will compete as they head to the USC Invitational on Nov. 7. The rest of the team is back in action on Nov. 15 at home for the Pomona-Pitzer dual.
