RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Coming off a big win over rival Azusa Pacific on Saturday, CBU kept gaining momentum in the home stretch of the season, and steamrolled to a 100-41 victory over Chaminade Thursday night--the first time the Lancers have scored 100 points this season.
With the win, CBU improves to 12-10 overall and 10-6 in the PacWest. The Silverswords fall to 3-18, 3-12 in conference.
"I was really pleased with our effort tonight," said head coach Jarrod Olson. "It was nice to see so many girls contribute. Jasmine [Sauser] really sparked us off the bench and Ciara [Guerrero] and Brittany [Sepeda] really played well."
Six CBU hoopsters finished the night with double figures, led by Jasmine Sauser with 20 points (7-for-10). Cassidy Mihalko followed with 13 points (5-for-9), along with Brittany Sepeda with 12 points (4-for-10), Ciara Guerrero with 11 points (5-for-9) and Olivia Weber (5-for-8) and Elise Shelton (5-for-7) rounded out the scoring with 10 points.
The Lancers came out firing on all cylinders in the first half, jumping in front early with an 8-0 run to open the game. Erin Asher bucketed the first two points of the night off an assist from Mihalko and Weber capped the run with a jump shot at 16:43 before Chaminade called a timeout.
CBU continued on the offensive tear, extending its lead into 20-point range—and even 30-point range briefly—before halftime.
With her team leading 45-21, Kamille Diaz sent a jump shot through the rim to start another big run, as Sauser followed with two points from the line. A three from Guerrero put the Lancers ahead by 31 points, but the Silverswords responded with a shot from beyond the arc to put the score at 52-24 in favor of CBU heading into the break.
Looking to carry over their 60-percent shooting clip into the second half, the Lancers surrendered the first two points of the half, but went on a 22-0 scoring rampage. Sepeda capped the staggering run with a three-pointer, handing her squad a 48-point lead at 74-26.
CBU broke into 60-point range off a long-range shot from Sepeda with 6:54 left to play. The Silverswords attempted to put together some offense, but couldn't get shots to fall, only scoring 17 points in the second half.
Continuing their domination, the Lancers scored their 100th point off a high-arching shot from Sepeda with less than a minute left and held on to the 100-41 victory.
The Lancers will look to stay hot as they play their final two home contests on Saturday and Monday. CBU first takes on Hawaii-Hilo on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. before hosting Hawaii Pacific on Monday at its normal 5:00 p.m. tipoff time.
