RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- A host of Lancers gathered at James W. Totman Stadium before a California Baptist University baseball game to celebrate the conclusion of the “Light It Up For the Lancers” campaign last Friday. Those who have supported CBU baseball by donating to the Bob Adcock Memorial Fund were also honored.
“Light It Up For the Lancers” was a three-phase drive, which raised funds to install lighting to the aquatic facilities, baseball and softball fields. The recognition ceremony was held before a baseball game between California Baptist University and Cal State San Bernardino last Friday.
A special dedication plaque in honor of Bob Adcock was unveiled during the event before three people with connections to CBU threw out first pitches before the game.
CBU Dean of Admissions Allen Johnson, Coleen Adcock (Bob Adcock's wife) and Marsden Holding, L.L.C. Western Division President and Chief-Operating Officer Brian Davis each threw out first pitches.
Johnson threw out his pitch to CBU baseball Coach Gary Adcock, while Coleen Adcock had her grandson Tyler Adcock catching behind the plate. Davis of Marsden Holding, which is one of the largest privately owned security and facility service providers in the nation, had his daughter Sydney Davis catching for him.
Just as it began, the night ended in celebration, as the Lancers defeated Cal State San Bernardino, 7-0, to improve to 5-0 this season. CBU has since stretched its winning streak to 10 games this season and a total of 19 carrying over the nine-game streak that closed out 2013. The Lancers continues their season with a home game against Colorado State-Pueblo tonight at 6 p.m.
