RIVERSIDE, Calif. — No. 16-ranked California Baptist University continues life on the road for three more games, making its biggest trek of the season as it flies over the Pacific to the Hawaiian Islands. The Lancers face three Hawaiian schools in five days before returning to the mainland.
CBU first takes on Chaminade on Thursday then heads to the North Shore to face fellow ranked squad, No. 17 BYU-Hawaii on Saturday, with both games tipping off at 9:30 p.m. PST. The trip concludes for the Lancers at Hawaii Pacific on Monday at 8:30 p.m. PST.
Head-to-Head
Against the Hawaiian teams, the Lancers have struggled but have started to turn that around with last year's successes. CBU is starting to close in on the Silverswords, bringing the all-time series to 5-3 in favor of Chaminade. Last year the Lancers defeated the Seasiders for the first time at BYUH, 84-78, and look to repeat the feat this year to inch closer in the all-time series—BYUH currently leads 5-1. Finally, the Sharks lead the series between CBU and HPU at 7-4, but the Lancers are on a two-game winning streak after sweeping the series last year.
In The Rankings
After finally breaking into the Top-10 of the National Basketball Coaches Association/Division II poll, the Lancers dropped to No. 16 in the division, as released Tuesday. The Seasiders are just one spot behind CBU at No. 17, while Chaminade and HPU have not received votes.
