RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Everyone came away with something to celebrate for California Baptist University at the Lancer Diving Invitational on Saturday.
CBU went head-to-head with fellow D-II power UC San Diego, allowing them to complete an 11-dive list for both boards. The Lancers had the top-two finishers on both boards in Bre Schlenger and Lauren Skinner, who set two new 11-dive records for the Lancers on the 1-meter and 3-meter, respectively.
Savannah Uhlir and Janae Jizmejian each produced personal records that put them in CBU's top-10 record books.
"It gives us perspective of where we're at and allows us to dive a championship-style, 11-dive list," Dive Coach Jeff Couto said. "It also gives us more and more experience for the meets that count at conference and nationals."
Schlenger improved on her previous 1-meter record of 444.6 points, from 2014, with a score 463.25 on Saturday. Skinner finished second in the event, with 460.25 points.
It was flip-flopped on the 3-meter, with Skinner winning in a record 480.35 to best Schlenger's previous record (474.60). Schlenger improved upon her 2014 record, with 478.85 points but was held to second place.
"Records are meant to be broken and they were definitely broken today," Couto said. "It was a great meet for everyone overall. They remained focused, even with Thanksgiving on the horizon."
Uhlir was the seventh-place finisher on both boards, with 384.1 points on the 3-meter and 354.35 on the one, with her personal records now ranking seventh and ninth, respectively in CBU top-10 history.
Jizmejian took eighth on both dives, with 375.8 points on the 3-meter and 347.05 at the 1-meter. She now ranks ninth on the top-10 list on the 3-meter and 10th at the 1-meter event.
