Balance, Defense Standout for Lancers

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Balance and an aggressive defense kept California Baptist University within striking distance of Cal State Fullerton on Tuesday night.
Tiena Afu, Britney Thomas and Caitlyn Harper all scored in double figures, but the Titans managed to secure a 79-65 win over the Lancers in the CBU Events Center. CBU moves to 1-2 this season, while CSUF improves to 2-1, despite the Lancers 23-10 advantage in turnovers on Tuesday.
Afu and Thomas each finished with a team-high 12 points, seven rebounds and added a block and assist. Harper, a true freshman, notched a career-high 10 points and two steals.
Georgia Dale (three steals, three assists) and Delacy Brown both scored seven points, while Ane Olaeta gave CBU six players with at least six points and also tallied five assists, five steals and four rebounds.
CBU hits the road for its next four games, starting with a trip to Northern Arizona on Saturday for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
