
26 Lancers Earn Academic All-WAC in Fall

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – A total of 26 California Baptist University student-athletes became the first-ever Lancers to earn Academic All-Western Athletic Conference honors when the league released its distinguished list of fall 2018 recipients on Thursday morning.
It was a high bar to make the grade for Academic All-WAC. To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic year at CBU, have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's contests.
Nine CBU women's soccer players earned WAC All-Academic accolades, with seven from men's soccer. There were six all-academic picks from cross country, with three each among the men and women, and four Lancers qualified for the awards with volleyball, as well.
From women's soccer, Desarae Felix, Miranda Hald, Brooke Ligtenberg, Symone Mack, Miranda Martinez, Michaela Miller, Lanai Navarro, Camille Ramirez and Rebecca Romero were honored.
Brian Gonzalez, Chris Heckenberg, Preston Judd, Uriel Mosqueda, Caley Powers, Joey Scotti and Sebastian Wiesbock earned the awards with men's soccer.
Simon Bedard, Jacob Boatman and Dennis Messmer were the selections from men's cross country, while women's cross country were represented by Fruzsi Ladanyi, Natalia Novak and Anett Somogyi.
Volleyball saw Elizabeth Gilley, Sydney Marks, Tesa Oaks and Natalie Zimmerer recognized.
