RIVERSIDE, Calif. – California Baptist University has its final tune-up before the WAC Championship meet with the Arturo Barrios Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M, on Saturday.
Saturday's race will be a good test for the Lancers with 17 men's teams being regionally ranked, including Middle Tennessee State—the 17th ranked team in the country. On the women's side, 16 teams are regionally ranked, with Texas also receiving votes to be ranked in the top-30.
A total of ten "Power 5" schools will be represented in College Station on Saturday—four SEC schools (Florida, LSU, Tennessee, and Texas A&M), four Big 12 schools (Baylor, TCU, Texas, Texas Tech), Arizona State of the Pac 12 and Pittsburgh of the ACC. Also competing are fellow-WAC-members NM State and UT Rio Grande Valley.
Anna Mate (12th, 20:57.8), Anett Somogyi (43rd, 21:53.2), Emilie Renaud (51st, 22:03.4), Karolina Iznerowicz (63rd, 22:15.4), and Fruzsi Ladanyi (69th, 21:14.7) competed in the 215-runner field at last year's Arturo Barrios Invitational in a fifth-place team outing for CBU.
The men's 8k will begin at 7 a.m. (Pacific), and the women's 6k will start at 7:45 a.m. Live results will be available at www.flashresults.com, which will have split data and team scoring as the races are underway.
The Lancers will also have runners competing locally at the UCR Highlander Invitational.
