RIVERSIDE -- The California Baptist women's basketball team is 4-0 after its first two weeks of real action on the court and is just one of 23 teams in NCAA Division I to be able to claim that record.
Freshman Taylor Wu led the Lancers to a 103-75 win over Ottawa University (AZ) with 37 points, a new freshman record. Most of those points came from the three-point line at Wu drained 10 from beyond the arc that night, setting a new all-time program record in the process.
While Wu had the career night, sophomore Caitlyn Harper continues her sensational sophomore campaign, now averaging 17 points, 10 rebounds, and two-and-a-half blocks per game thus far.
The team as a whole can also point to great defensive play this season as a huge factor in their early success. The Lancers are holding opponents to just .317 percent shooting from the field, and that number drops to .291 percent from beyond the arc.

Northern Arizona is coming into the contest at 1-1, having just defeated WAC member Seattle U in Flagstaff, 88-80. The Lumberjacks were led by Lauren Orndoff, who scored 20 points in the victory. In last season's meeting, the Lancers held a 31-point lead heading into the fourth quarter of action. The Gauchos went on a run but fell well short of a comeback with the Lancers claiming a 76-64 win in Santa Barbara.
The Gaucho's come into this weekends game with a 2-2 record, book-ending that slate with home wins against Utah Valley, 59-51, and USC, 57-46.
