RIVERSIDE --- A second-half surge by Milan Acquaah and Ferron Flavors Jr. propelled California Baptist University to a 78-61 victory over the Southern University Jaguars on Wednesday.
With the win, the Lancers extend their win streak to four in a row and continue to sit atop the Western Athletic Conference standings at 7-4. Southern falls to 3-9 on the season and suffers its second loss to a WAC opponent. NM State played the Jaguars on Nov. 14, where the Aggies came away with a 79-63 win, just one point shy of tonight's mark for the Lancers.
Acquaah finished with a team-high 28 points, going 11-23 from the field and scoring 14 in each half. He was near a triple-double for the second game in a row, adding eight assists and six rebounds to his line.
Ferron Flavors Jr. went 6-13 from the field for 18 points, scoring 10 during the Lancers' second-half run. De'jon Davis was the final Lancer in double figures, contributing 11 points and eight rebounds.Shake N' Bake!!!#LanceUp⚔ pic.twitter.com/taFhnwK6JG

The game itself was electric from start to finish, as the lead changed hands a season-high 22 times. The previous season-high was 12 in the Lancers' 79-67 win over UC Riverside on Dec. 4.
Both teams were relentless in the early going, as they each traded baskets for the first 10 minutes of the game. In fact, the lead itself didn't grow above four points until the 6:21 mark when the Jaguars went on a 6-0 run to take a 28-23 lead.
CBU was quick to answer, though, as Flavors found Zach Pirog under the hoop for the monster alley-oop.

The dunk by Pirog helped spark a 5-0 run for the Lancers and forced the fifth tie of the game at the 4:37 mark.
The Lancers regained the lead moments later on a second-chance layup by Flavors and never looked back. CBU went into the half on a 10-4 run to take a 38-33 advantage into the break.

The second half started off similar to the first, as the score was tied three times in the first seven minutes.
Acquaah was the sparkplug the Lancers needed, as his three at the 9:57 mark provided a huge lift and put momentum on their side.

The back-to-back threes helped spark a 10-0 run that gave the Lancers a nine-point edge, 61-52. The Lances put the game out of reach with just under six minutes to play after Acquaah and Flavors combined for 20 of the Lancers' 24 points in the final 10 minutes of action.
CBU will continue its homestand with a game against Mississippi Valley State on Sunday, Dec. 22, at 7 p.m.
