RIVERSIDE --- California Baptist University's men's basketball team will host UC Riverside in the Crosstown Showdown on Dec. 4 before traveling to UC Irvine on Dec. 7.

Wednesday's contest will mark the fourth-straight home game for the Lancers, as they welcome the Highlanders of UC Riverside to the CBU Events Center.
UC Riverside will make the 8.3-mile trek for the second Crosstown Showdown of the series since the Lancers joined the NCAA Division I ranks. Last season, the Lancers met the Highlanders at UC Riverside for the first time in 20 years, winning the first-ever NCAA match against the two, 80-70.
The Highlanders come into Wednesday's game with one of the best starts to the program's history at 6-2 on the season. The last time the Highlanders opened the season with a 6-2 record dates back to the 2008-09 season.
Notables:
- The Highlanders' biggest win of the season came against Nebraska in Lincoln with a 66-47 victory.
- UCR is currently on a four-game winning streak after beating Redlands, Denver, Longwood, and Southern Illinois Edwardsville.
- UCR is led by Callum McRae, who is the only player on the team to average double digits in scoring (12.3ppg).
- The Highlanders' defense has proven to be stingy this year, holding opponents to 52.5 points per game.
- UCR is holding opponents to a 25 percent shooting clip from the 3-point line and 35.4 percent from the field.
- They currently hold an 8.5 rebounding margin over their opponents.
- Head Coach David Patrick is in his second year at the helm of the program for the Highlanders after previously serving as an assistant coach at LSU and TCU.

Saturday's game against the Anteaters of UC Irvine marks the final away contest for the Lancers in the 2019 season. UC Irvine is currently 5-4 on the season and on a two-game winning streak after beating Louisiana and Eastern Michigan over the Thanksgiving break. Last season, the 13th-seeded Anteaters won the Big West Tournament and beat Kansas State in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, before falling to Oregon in the second round, 73-54
Notables:
- The Anteaters are coming off their best season in program history after recording a school-record 31 wins in 2018-19.
- The 2018-19 season marked the seventh-straight winning season after finishing with a 31-6 overall record and with a 15-1 mark in Big West play.
- The Anteaters were picked to finish first in the Big West Preseason Poll with 258 points.
- UCI returns four starters and nine letter winners from last year's championship team, including seniors: Evan Leonard, Eyassu Worku, Tommy Rutherford, and John Edgar Jr.
- Redshirt sophomore Collin Welp is the team's leading scorer and rebounder with 14.6ppg and 6.8rpg.
- Head Coach Russell Turner is in his 10th season at the helm of the program.
- Turner became the third coach in UCI history to eclipse 150 wins in a career, averaging 20 wins a season.
CBU's ticketing office is offering discounted tickets for Saturday's contest against UC Irvine. The discounted tickets are located in the upper portion of section 121 and set at $10 each, which is 45 percent off the regular priced ($18) ticket through UCI.
Fans can purchase and pick up tickets at the CBU Box Office (cash only). Tickets must be purchased and picked up by 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6. Tickets will not be available through CBU for purchase or pick-up after the deadline. All sales are final with no refunds or exchanges once orders are placed.
