Olaeta Scores Season High in Crosstown Showdown

RIVERSIDE -- Ane Olaeta went off for 19 points and nine assists for California Baptist University in the Crosstown Showdown at UC Riverside on Thursday night. Nevertheless, it was the Highlanders who would come away with the win this year, 80-64.
The game was close for much of the 40 minutes, with the Lancers taking leads in the third and fourth quarters, but the Highlanders shot 64.3 percent from the field in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
Sydney Palma got her first start of the season and scored all 14 of her points in a second-half push.
The win is the Highlanders third of the season, with all three coming against WAC opponents, previously defeating NM State and Utah Valley.
The setback puts the Lancers at 7-4 this season with another tough contest against a young Cal State Fullerton on deck next week in Fullerton.
