
Five Lancers Competing at SPAR European Cross Country Championships

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – California Baptist University will be well represented on the international stage this weekend, with three current and two future Lancers competing at the 2019 SPAR European Cross Country Championships on Sunday.
This year's edition of the SPAR European Cross Country Championships takes place in Lisboa, Portugal and includes 602 athletes from 40 countries.
The Lancers are represented in the men's U23, 8.2k by Arturs Medveds (Latvia). Medveds has competed the last three years in the U20 race, and is competing for the first time at the U23 level.
In the Women's U23, 6.2K, Kamilė Vaidžiulytė (Lithuania) is making her third appearance at SPAR, her second appearance as a U23. Vaidžiulytė will join CBU in Fall 2020.
Giedrius Valincius (Lithuania), a first team All-WAC honoree at the WAC Championships in November, makes his third appearance at SPAR, all as a U20 competitor.
The Women's U20, 4.2k race has the largest delegation of Lancers at SPAR this year. CBU is represented by Emilie Renaud (France), who also earned first team All-WAC honors at the WAC Championships. Additionally, the Lancers are represented by Greta Karinauskaitė (Lithuania) who makes her way to the Inland Empire next fall.
Sunday's race will segue CBU into a promising spring track season.
