RIVERSIDE – California Baptist University women's basketball team will have at least four new faces joining the Lancer family for the coming 2020-2021 season.
The Lancers have a strong tie to The Land Down Under with a pair of Aussies already on the women's team, Georgia Dale and Gracie Champion, with another pair committing to CBU this year.
Shelby Rayner is a five-foot-six-inch international guard hailing from Ulverstone, Tasmania, Australia, who was selected to participate in the first-ever Women's Next Generation program through the NBA Academies in 2019, an opportunity that led to her playing in a showcase event during the Final Four weekend that year.
Shelby has played on the Tasmanian Women's Under-18 team for the past two years while also playing for the Glenorchy Spartans of the Basketball Tasmania State League.
Nicole Avila-Ambrosi, a five-foot-eight-inch guard, comes to Southern California from Omaha, Nebraska, where she was part of a state championship team during her junior and was named to the All-State team for Class A.
During the championship game, Avila-Ambrosi completed a 360-layup, which landed her on Sports Centers Top 10 for the night.
Haylee Aiden, a six-foot-two-inch post player from Los Angeles, will also join the Lancers for the 2020-21 campaign. Aiden was part of the team that won the CIF's Open Division, the top division in the state.
Aiden was named to the All-CIF Los Angeles, All-CIF Open Division, and CalHiSports 2018 All-State teams in high school.
Eliana Bravington makes her way to Riverside by way of Melbourne, Australia, the same hometown claimed by future teammate Georgia Dale.
Bravington is a six-foot-three-inch post player who will begin classes at CBU in January 2020 while also beginning to participate in team activities.
She has spent time with the Knox Raiders and was a VYCW League MVP. Most recently, Bravington spent time playing in the NBL1 with the Frankston Blues.
