
86 Lancers Achieve Academic Honors

RIVERSIDE – The Western Athletic Conference has released its Spring, Freshmen and Transfers Academic Honors list for 2019-2020, and 86 additional California Baptist University athletes have received recognition. In total for the 2019-20 season, 157 Lancer student-athlete honors were awarded amongst all WAC sponsored sports. It is an increase of 25 from the 2018-19 year.
In order to qualify for the honor, each student-athlete must have completed at least one full academic year at the school, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or better, and have competed in at least 50 percent of the team's contests.
Women's track and softball tied for the most awards each grabbing 13 honors, while baseball led the men's side with a dozen.
Matt Amrhein, Jeff Bruyntjens, Chris Burica, Chad Castillo, Christian Culpepper, Damon Keith, Kyle Oyama, Nick Plaia, Bryan Pope, Rory Smith, Russell Stevenson, Grady Tuohy were baseball's 2020 honorees.
Ivo Balabanov, Cameron Hylton, Zlatko Kozuhar, Henrique Neves, Giedrius Valincius, Marta Afonso Lourenco, Mary Andrews, Chloe Beedy, Elin Brink, Paige Haynes, Karolina Iznerowicz, Wiktoria Klebowska, Fruzsi Ladanyi, Anna Mate, Lara Orrock, Emilie Renaud, Anett Somogyi, Elise Winward all made the grade for men's and women's track.
Softball's Deanna Alarcon, Amanda Argomaniz, Ali Belloc, Mackenzie Budinger, Gretchen Goldsmith, Michaila Harrington, Molly Kolander, Caitlyn Lloyd, Giana Lopez, Katelyn Mangrello, Abby Robertson, Nicole Stark, Makenna Stram all earned conference recognition.
Kristyna Abrahamova, Diana Araneta, Belle Balkan, Sofia Chabon, Jocelyn Chee, Samantha Martirez were the women's golf honorees, with men's golf adding John Hayes and Ryan Monsalve.
With the conclusion of the academic year, freshmen and transfers from fall and winter sports were honored as well. In all, 35 additional CBU fall and winter athletes earned academic all-conference honors.
Volleyball's Christine Graf and Paige Johnstone were named Academic All-WAC, as well as Ragnheidur Einarsdottir, Tiena Neale, and Taylor Wu of women's basketball, with Tre Armstrong and Reed Nottage of men's basketball.
Faith Brazil, Mackenzie Degn, Hannah Houlton, Vianka Hoyer, Madison Liu, Lauren McKenna, Lexie Walling, Aiden Hobson, Evan Honer, Trent Itow, Christian Meyer, and Trevor Van Law all added their names to the Academic All-WAC list for men's and women's swim/dive.
Tim Bernhardsson, Daniel Johnsson, Daniel Simonsen, Tete Vacas, were men's soccer representatives while Amy Aquino, Rola Badawiya, Tiana Hill, Madeline Milby, Abigail Tyhurst, and Karley Weeks earned honors for the women.
From cross country, Marta Afonso Lourenco, Chloe Beedy, Wiktoria Klebowska represented the women's team while Cameron Hylton, Henrique Neves, and Giedrius Valincius represented the men.
