
Lancers to Host Long Beach State For Nonconference Matchup; Saturday at 6 PM

RIVERSIDE --- California Baptist University will finish its week with another non-conference opponent on the schedule, hosting Long Beach State on Saturday, Jan. 23, at 6 p.m.

The Lancers added a midweek, non-conference game against San Diego Christian on Wednesday, Jan. 20, and have completed the week with another non-conference game to make up for the two missed games due to Chicago State.
The Lancers were originally set to play Chicago State on the week, but CSU suspended its men's basketball activities, and as a result, those games were canceled.
This marks a first-time matchup between the Lancers and the Beach.
Notable Notes:
- Long Beach State is currently 3-4 on the season and 2-2 in the Big West.
- Their first win of the season came against WAC member Seattle U on Dec. 6, 2020, where the Beach came away with an 80-75 victory over the Redhawks.
- The Beach last played on the weekend of Jan. 8-9, where they split the conference series against Cal State Fullerton.
- Long Beach State is led by Isaiah Washington, Michael Carter III, Chance Hunter, and Joe Hampton as the offense's primary scorers.
- Washington leads the team with 17.1 points per game and has played and started in all seven games on the season. Both Carter III and Hunter have missed the last two games for the Beach.
- Head Coach Dan Monson is in his 13th season at the program's helm and is the winningest coach in LBSU history. He has been named Big West Coach of the Year three times, as well as back-to-back NABC All-District Coach recognition from 2010-11 and 2011-12.
