PHOENIX --- California Baptist University opened its first Western Athletic Conference road swing on Friday, as the Lancers took on the Lopes of Grand Canyon.
The contest opened up with an early red card, as the Lancers were forced to play the final 86 minutes a player down. GCU would use the advantage with an extra player on the field, scoring five unanswered goals in the first half.
Despite being a player down for the majority of the game, Gracie Bowers broke through in the 80th minute, beating the GCU keeper in a 1-on-1 and outrunning the final defender to break up the shutout.
