As the department's team physician, Henry joins the senior leadership team headed by Tyler Mariucci, CBU Director of Athletics. Henry also will serve on CBU's Student-Athlete Mental Health and Well-Being Committee, while providing support for teams competing at select events and post-season championships.
"We are very excited to be bringing someone on board with the experience and expertise of Dr. Henry," Mariucci said. "He knows where our student-athletes are coming from as a former student-athlete himself, which will help him continue to make a huge impact in their lives in a number of ways."
Among his professional credentials, Henry pursued a primary care sports medicine fellowship at the Baylor Sports Medicine Fellowship in Waco, Texas. The fellowship involved serving as a team physician for Baylor University Athletics, including the Big 12 Tournament Champion women's soccer team.
Henry previously worked as a team physician with USA Men's Water Polo and Riverside Medical Clinic, among others. He received the 'Top 40 Physician Under 40' award from the National Medical Association and is currently working with the NCAA on diversity, equity and inclusion for student-athletes of color.
Henry is the medical director for the Master's in Athletic Training program at CBU. He also serves as Assistant Director for the Tour for Diversity in Medicine, an organization that works to educate, inspire, and cultivate future generations of minority physicians, dentists and pharmacists. He is a lifetime member of the Student National Medical Association.
A Southern California native, Henry played football at Sacramento State University and earned a B.A. degree in Biological Sciences. He continued his education at Howard University College of Medicine where he served as class president all four years.
