The Lancers were highly efficient, shooting 51 percent from the field (29-57) and 50 percent from the 3-point line (12-24). Of the 29 field goals made on the day, 22 of them were assisted.
The game was tightly contested in the early going, where three ties and five lead changes happened in the first 13 minutes of action.
The Lancers would then go on a 9-0 run from the 7:05 mark to the 4:30 mark to take their largest lead of the game at that point, 26-18. CBU wouldn't look back, either, going on another big run, this time outscoring the Hornets, 11-2, to end the half with a 12 point advantage, 39-27.
All in all, the Lancers held the lead for 35 and a half minutes while winning the rebounding battle (36-30) and holding the Hornets to 33 percent from deep.
FROM CROY:
"First half we guarded. We're still hunting a 40-minute effort defensively, but we get another opportunity to try and hunt that tomorrow. So, that's really exciting. In February, you want to play tough programs, and Sac State's a very, very mentally tough and physically tough basketball program. I thought our guys made some nice plays finding each other in the second half, and tomorrow we get a chance again to try and after that 40-minute defensive effort."
