ST. GEORGE – California Baptist University volleyball wrapped up its season series with familiar foe Dixie State on Tuesday in Burns Arena.
Despite a fight from the Lancers, the Trailblazers came away with the straight-set victory (25-18, 25-13, 29-27). Dixie State improves to 5-4 overall and 4-4 in the Western Athletic Conference, while the Lancers are now 4-3, 3-3.
Cali Hoye and Cassidy Dennison led the offense with eight kills each. Dennison also tied true freshman libero Jennifer Blessing with a team-high 11 digs, while Hoye matched Chandler Gorman with a team-high three blocks.
Christine Graf added seven kills and two blocks, while Sydney Marks had five kills and seven digs and Ellie Voss provided four kills and two blocks.
CBU trailed 21-15 in set three, but battled back to make it interesting. The Lancers went on a 7-2 run to pull within a point, 23-22. Four blocks fueled that comeback, with Hoye getting in on three of them, while Gorman and Voss each had two.
Both teams traded points down the stretch, as the Lancers forced overtime with ties at 24, 25, 26 and 27. The Trailblazers had just enough to avoid a fourth set, as they got back-to-back blocks to end the match.

CBU returns home next week to host defending WAC champion NM State. The Aggies have won 11 WAC titles in their history, with six regular-season crowns and five more tournament titles. The matches will be streamed live on the WAC Digital Network, with live stats on StatBroadcast.
