RIVERSIDE --- California Baptist University hosted its final non-conference game of the season on Saturday, as the Lancers came away with a 78-65 victory over Vanguard University.
As the 2020-21 season comes to a close, the Lancers turned their bye week into a non-conference matchup against an old foe.
The history between California Baptist and Vanguard dates back to the 1999-2000 season, as the Lancers improved their all-time series record over the Lions to 19-6. The win gives the Lancers a 12-8 overall record, as they have two games left in the regular season.
Ty Rowell, Reed Nottage, Gorjok Gak, and Elijah Thomas led the way for the Lancers, as all four players finished in double figures. Rowell scored 12 of his 22 points in the second half, while Nottage scored 14 of his 22 points in the first half. Gak finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Thomas added 10 points, four rebounds, and four assists to his line.
The Lancers held the lead for 38 of the 40 minutes, with a double-digit lead for the last 25 minutes of the game.
Gak was a force in the paint for the Lancers, recording his eighth double-double of the year.
