CBU Wraps Up Week Two at South Dakota State Tournament

BROOKINGS – California Baptist University volleyball fell to tournament host South Dakota State in three sets (25-19, 25-22, 25-16) on Saturday.
CBU falls to 2-3 on the year, while the Jackrabbits improve to 4-1 as winners of three-straight matches now. The Lancers will return to Riverside to make their home debut this season as they cohost the CBU/UC Riverside Tournament next weekend in the Van Dyne Gym.
It opens with California Baptist hosting New Orleans on Friday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. The Lancers will then play a doubleheader on Saturday, Sept. 11 against Southern Utah and UC Riverside at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.
Paige Johnstone logged a match-high 14 digs on Saturday for CBU. Scherine Dahoue continue to do a bit of everything for the Lancers with a team-high seven kills, five digs, three aces and a block.
Setters Hana Okuhara (15 assists, five digs) and Leah Pease (14 assists) both posted double-digit assists, as well. The offense was spread out, with five players posting at least four kills: Ashlyn Nevrla (six), Tesa Oaks (five), Anna Jackson (five, .333) and Chandler Gorman (four kills, three blocks).
