RIVERSIDE – California Baptist University Athletics continued its trend of academic success in the fall of 2021, as the Lancers posted a department grade-point average of 3.413.
All 19 CBU teams posted GPAs above a 3.15 and eight maintained GPAs above 3.5.
"Academic and competitive excellence must go hand-in-hand for a NCAA Division I program to be successful," Director of Athletics Tyler Mariucci said. "I am so proud of our student-athletes' achievement in the classroom, as well as the hard work of our academic counseling team, led by Rachel Keys, that helped propel them to these high marks!"
"It is rewarding to see our student-athletes' GPA continue at a high level," said Rachel Keys, CBU's Associate Athletic Director for Academic Services and Senior Woman Administrator. "Our coaches and academic staff continue to stress the importance of winning in the classroom and we see the time spent working with the student-athletes pays off in a meaningful way."
Women's swim/dive posted the top GPA in the department with a 3.67 in the fall, while women's soccer (3.61) and women's cross country/track (3.60) followed close behind.
The men's teams were led by cross country/track with a 3.59. Swim/dive (3.43) and water polo (3.37) completed the top-three on the men's side.
