RIVERSIDE --- California Baptist University will hit the road for its first two-game road swing in Western Athletic Conference play this week, as the Lancers will face Tarleton State (Jan. 20) and Abilene Christian (Jan. 22).

The Texas road trip for the Lancers will mark a first, as the Lancers will make their first road trip to Stephenville to face the Texans inside Wisdom Gym. CBU holds an all-time series lead at 2-0, as the Lancers beat the Texans in back-to-back nights during the 2020-21 season.
Notable Notes:
- The Texans are currently 8-11 on the season and 3-3 in WAC play.
- Tarleton has wins over Dixie State, Stephen F. Austin, and Sam Houston on the year, with losses coming from Utah Valley, NM State, and Grand Canyon.
- The Texans boast a 7-1 record and a perfect 2-0 record in conference play when playing at home.
- Tarleton is in its second year of the transition period from NCAA Division II to NCAA Division I.
- Montre Gipson, Tahj Small, and Freddy Hicks are the Texans leading scorers, with all three averaging double figures.
- Gipson paces the Texans' offense with a team-best 15.2 points per game.
- Billy Gillispie became Tarleton's 15th head coach on March 30, 2020, bringing the Texans into the NCAA DI era.

Saturday's match will be a first-time matchup for the Lancers and the Wildcats.
In the 2020-21 season, Abilene Christian finished 24-5 on the year and took down No. 3 Texas in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament. It marked the 22nd time a 14-seed beat a 3-seed in the tournament's history.
Notable Notes:
- The Wildcats enter the week at 11-6 on the season and 2-4 in conference play.
- ACU will face Seattle U on Jan. 20 before the matchup with the Lancers.
- The Wildcats are led by Coryon Mason, Mahki Morris, and Airion Simmons on the year.
- Mason is the team's leading scorer with 12.1 points per game, while Simmons is averaging 10.0 points per game and a team-best 5.4 rebounds per game.
- ACU opened the conference slate with wins over Utah Valley and Dixie State before dropping the last four to Stephen F. Austin, Sam Houston, Grand Canyon, and NM State.
- Brette Tanner was named the 17th head coach at ACU on April 14, 2021. He was promoted to the head coaching position after eight seasons with the Wildcats.
