LOS ANGELES – The California Baptist University dive teams took advantage of a short-notice opportunity to compete in the Trojan Diving Invitational and clearly made the right choice.
The best individual result of the day came from freshman diver Natalie Bedolla who placed third overall in the women's platform competition. Her total score of 423.45 placed her on the podium over the fourth-place finisher by less than one point. Her final round score of 221.80 places her fourth on the Lancer's top-10 records list.
Gael Jimenez easily had the best round of the day, setting a new program record at 3-meters with a score of 404.65. He breaks his own record, previously set at 382.60, which he set just three weeks prior against UNLV.
Evan Honer took fifth place overall in a field that featured multiple top-16 divers in the NCAA from a year ago. Honer, already a five-time WAC champion in his own right, posted a total score of 640.60, tallying a season-best 331.75 in the finals of the 3-meter event.
Next up for the Lancers is a trip east to participate in the Purdue Invite. The three-day event runs from November 16-18, with prelims running each morning and finals in the afternoon.
