CBU takes on Saint Mary’s in Saturday Showdown

RIVERSIDE - The California Baptist University women's basketball team welcomed the WCC's Saint Mary's University, with the Gaels winning 88-81 in Riverside. The result pushes the Lancers' record to 1-1 on the young season while Saint Mary's improves to 2-0.

Trinity San Antonio led the Lancers with 17 points, 13 of which came in the fourth quarter with four fouls. Sila Finau added 15 points while shooting 6-9 from the field. Brittany Klaman (13) and Chloe Webb (12) rounded out the Lancers in double-digits in the scoring column. Webb added a game-high four steals to her stat line.

The Gaels led by as many as 22 in the fourth, but the Lancers never gave up, cutting the deficit to as low as six before the final horn sounded. Saint Mary's was locked in from the field, shooting 53.4% (31-58) for the game.

The Lancers' home stand continues with a 6 p.m. game against Northern Arizona on November 16.
