
Lancers Post More Impressive Results On Day Two Of Purdue Invite

WEST LAFAYETTE, IN – California Baptist University men's and women's swim and dive teams compete on day two of the Purdue Invite. The 400 IM, 100 Butterfly, 200 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, and 100 Backstroke were included in today's meet. For Divers, the women were on the 1 meter, with the men on the 3 meter.
CBU started day two with 33 Lancers making it to day two finals. First, on the women's side Nicole Cienega, Gabriela Robles, and Amber Harris made consolations, while teammate Jemma Tully made C finals for the 400 Individual Medley. Cienega also made D finals for the 100 butterfly, while freshman Emily Drossel found her way into the C finals. Lydia Bartlett and Naya Koc also swam in the C finals in the 200 Freestyle. In the 100 Breaststroke, Lauren Mckenna and Amber French made it into the D Finals, while Lynn Henke and Faith Brazil will be in the C finals. Tully and Nicole Reynolds made the 100 Backstroke C Finals, while Michaela Trnkova were the only woman competing in the A finals tonight.
On the men's side, Mark Kovacsics made the C finals for the 400 IM. Brendan Man and Robert Mosely both made B finals in the 100 butterfly. In the 200 freestyle, Luke Altman and John Sullivan made consolations, while Boris Milev made B finals, and Remi Fabiani found himself a spot in the A finals. Nate Bjournstad made the B finals in the 100 Breaststroke, along with Jonathan Reiter who made the A finals. In the 100 Backstroke, we have a Lancer in each final, Trevor Van Law in the C Finals, Simeon Rinkenberger in the B finals, and Remi Fabiani once again in the A finals.
Natalia Bedolla made consolations for our CBU divers on the women's side. Gael Jimeniez secured a spot in the finals, placing second, followed by Even Honer in third place and John Angelovic in 11th.
Finals opened up tonight with the women's 200 medley relay where Trnkova, Brazil, Drossel, and Maspers finished 9th. For the men, Rinkenburger, Reiter, Moseley, and Fabiani finished fourth. Fabiani brought it home during the Freestyle leg as he split a 19.22.

CBU had three top-three finishes split between one diver and two swimmers. Jiminez finished third on the 3-meter with a score of 321.90. Reiter also placed third in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 53.31. Fabiani finished second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:35.08.
CBU will head into the final day of the invite tomorrow. Prelims are scheduled for 7 a.m. Pacific time, with finals beginning at 1 p.m.
