Lancers Face No. 15 Arizona To Open Thanksgiving Tournament

SAN DIEGO – The California Baptist University women's basketball team opened play at The Dana on Mission Bay Thanksgiving Classic against the No. 15 team in the land, the Arizona Wildcats. The Lancers played Arizona tight most of the way but eventually fell to the Wildcats by a score of 81-63. The Lancers move to 2-3 with the result, while Arizona stays perfect at 5-0.
Trinity San Antonio led CBU in scoring with 17 points to go with seven boards. Sila Finau recorded a double-double against her previous Pac-12 foes, dropping 10 points while grabbing 13 rebounds. Chloe Webb, Brittany Klaman, and Grace Schmidt all flirted with double figures with nine points apiece.
The Wildcats were in control from the start, holding CBU to just nine points in the first quarter. The Lancers played one point better than Arizona in the second and third quarters before the U of A pulled away in the final frame.
The Lancers will be back at it on Saturday afternoon, taking on Idaho State at 2 p.m. to close out the tournament. The Bengals couldn't get their final shot to go in the opening game, falling to host San Diego 58-57.
