Fabiani Collects a Pair of Wins as CBU Continues Strong Run at UNLV

LAS VEGAS – The California Baptist University men's and women's swim teams completed day two of the UNLV Invite on Sunday. The men closed out day one, still in third place with 548.50 points behind hosts UNLV (683 points) and Cal Poly (584). Fresno Pacific (226), Linfield (115.50), Lewis & Clark College (68), and an unattached group (62) rounded out the men's field.
The women also remain in the same spot as Saturday, occupying fifth place with a point total of 184. UCLA remains atop the women's standings (865). Northern Arizona (504) swapped spots with the host Rebels (479), with NM State (329) still in fourth. Cal Poly (106) and New Mexico (99) are next behind the Lancer women, Fresno Pacific (18), Linfield (12), and Lewis & Clark (two) rounding out the standings.
Remi Fabiani shined brightest on the second day of competition, earning a pair of individual wins in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke. He also anchored the second-place 200 medley relay and assisted with the third-place 800 free relay efforts.
Jonathon Reiter and Simeon Rinkenberger also made their way onto the podium on day two. Reiter finished runner-up in the 100 breaststroke, while Rinkenberger earned bronze in the 100 back.
Michaela Trnkova was the only Lancer woman to make it to the podium on day two, earning a second-place finish in the 100 back. Trnkova also helped with the women's 800 free relay effort that fifth place alongside Faith Brazil, Emily Drossel, and Mia Maspers.
The winter invitational will wrap up on Monday, beginning again at 9:30 a.m. in Las Vegas.
