Lancers Continue Success In Classroom; Record 3.412 GPA in 2021-22

RIVERSIDE --- California Baptist University Athletics continued its strong performance in the classroom in the 2021-22 academic year, as the Lancers finished with a 3.412 grade-point average.
It marks the third consecutive season the Lancers have posted a department GPA of 3.4 or higher. The Lancers posted a 3.413 GPA in the fall and followed that up with a 3.415 GPA in the spring. Eighteen of 19 CBU teams logged GPAs of 3.2 or better this year, and seven maintained GPAs above 3.5.
"I am so proud of our student-athletes' academic accomplishments this year," Director of Athletics Tyler Mariucci said. "They have put in so much hard work on the playing field and in the classroom, and they should be very proud of their continued success."
Women's swimming posted the top GPA in the department with a 3.635 GPA, while women's volleyball posted the second with a 3.622, and women's cross country/track rounded out the top three with a 3.594.
The men's cross country/track team led the Lancers for the third-straight year with a 3.609. Men's water polo was in second with a 3.431, and men's golf finished the top three with a 3.415.
"We are all very proud of our student-athletes for taking ownership of their academic success and their work hard produce these accomplishments," said Rachel Keys, the Associate Athletic Director for Academic Services and Senior Woman Administrator. "The last couple of years has posed many different challenges but CBU student-athletes continued to excel academically."
