Lancers Welcome Five Transfers For 2022-23 Season

RIVERSIDE --- California Baptist head coach Rick Croy and his staff will welcome five transfers to the team for the upcoming 2022-23 men's basketball season.

The class includes Riley Battin, Joe Quintana, Tim Ighoefe, Hunter Goodrick, and Blondeau Tchoukuiegno.

Battin, a 6-9 senior forward from Westlake Village, California, comes to CBU after spending four seasons as a starter at Utah. He was a three-time Pac-12 Winter Academic Honor Roll selection and a two-time NABC Honors Court honoree. During his career with the Utes, he played in 118 games while starting in 79 with an average of 21.2 minutes played per game. Battin averaged 6.3 points per game in his career to go along with 3.6 rebounds per game and 1.3 assists per game.  

About Battin:

  • Scored a career-high 18 points against UCLA on Feb. 9, 2019
  • Recorded his first career double-double against Stanford with 11 points and 10 rebounds on Feb. 6, 2020
  • Prepped at Oak Park High School
  • Ranked a four-star recruit by ESPN.com out of high school
  • Was named Ventura County Player of the Year his junior and senior seasons

Quintana, a 6-2 redshirt senior guard from West Covina, California, transfers in after a four-year career at Loyola Marymount. In his four-year career with the Lions, Quintana played in 101 games while starting in 71 with an average of 25.7 minutes played per game. A sharpshooter from deep, Quintana joins the Lancers after knocking down the most threes (83) in the West Coast Conference (WCC). He averaged 8.3 points per game in his career with a career shooting clip of 40.0 percent from the 3-point line.

About Quintana:

  • Finished his career ranked sixth all-time at LMU with 179 made threes
  • Became one of six players in LMU history to make over 40 percent of threes attempted
  • Ranked second all-time at LMU with an 86.3 percent mark at the charity stripe
  • Averaged a career-best 13.1 points per game in the 2021-22 season while shooting 43.0 percent from the 3-point line and 92.5 percent from the free-throw line
  • Graduated from Bonita High School, where he was a two-time league MVP
  • Finished his time at Bonita with the most points scored in a career and the record for most steals, most assists, and most points in a single season

Ighoefe, a 7-0 junior center from Lagos, Nigeria, comes to CBU after spending three seasons at Georgetown in the Big East. Ighoefe played in 60 games for the Hoyas while starting in 21, and finished his career in the Big East ranked No. 3 in offensive rebounding percentage and No. 5 in total rebounding percentage. His usage rate when it came to rebounding also ranked in the top 10 in the nation.

About Ighoefe:

  • Was a member of NBA Academy Africa
  • Competed in the NBA Academy Games in the summer of 2018
  • Grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds against Saint Joseph's on Nov. 26, 2021
  • Recorded a career-high four blocks in the 2021-22 season on two separate occasions

Tchoukuiegno, a 6-2 sophomore guard from Montreal, Quebec, joins the Lancers after three seasons at the University of New Hampshire. In the 2021-22 season, Tchoukuiegno was the only player at UNH to play and start in all 28 games. He averaged 11.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game to become one of 23 players in the nation to average those marks in the 2021-22 season.

About Tchoukuiegno:

  • Scored a career-high 23 points against Maine on Jan. 26, 2022
  • Dished out a career-high nine assists at UMBC on Feb. 2, 2022
  • Was a three-time America East Rookie of the Week
  • Recorded 19 games with 10 or more points
  • Prepped at Montmorency School, where he averaged 17.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game
  • Helped Montmorency to a national title in 2017, as well as provincial titles in 2017 and 2018

Goodrick, a 6-7 redshirt sophomore forward from Sydney, Australia, comes to CBU after two seasons with South Dakota. In the 2021-22 season, Goodrick was one of three Yotes to play and start in all 31 games. He averaged 7.5 points per game on the year and scored in double figures 12 times with a season-high 15 points at South Dakota State on Jan. 8, 2022.

About Goodrick:

  • Averaged 7.5 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game last season
  • Grabbed the most rebounds by a Coyote since 2009 with 19 rebounds against North Dakota on Jan. 10, 2022
  • Shot 56.5 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from the three-point line
  • Competed on the U-18 Australian National Team
  • Played at Basketball Australia's Centre of Excellence
