In all, CBU has produced 36 total MLB signees (28 draft picks, eight free-agent signings) in Coach Gary Adcock's 19-year tenure, which includes Chad Castillo, CJ Culpepper and David Martin who were all top-16 round draft picks this week.

Spohn became the first NCAA Division I First Team All-America selection in school history when Collegiate Baseball named him its top second baseman. He was also named the 2022 Western Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

Congratulations to Harrison Spohn on being named @CBNewspaper's NCAA Division 1 First Team All-America Second Baseman. He's the 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 Lancer in school history to be named a First Team NCAA D1 All-American. #LanceUp⚔️ pic.twitter.com/7GCsijnLQu
Spohn ended the regular season leading all of Division I with 28 doubles this season, two more than the runner-up, UNLV's Joey Walls (26). He averaged .50 of a double per game, which tied for third in D-I.

He also ended the regular season ranked ninth in Division I in hits (91). He hit .365 on the season, with .564 slugging and .422 on-base percentages. He accumulated 63 runs, 38 runs batted in, five homers and 14 stolen bases while primarily hitting out of the No. 2 spot in the lineup all year. He ended his career on an 18-game hitting streak.
Defensively, Spohn proved to be elite, as well, and was recognized by his coaches for his glove. He finished with a .979 fielding percentage, teamed up for 37 double plays and logged 162 assists and 121 putouts on the year.
CBU'S NEXT-LEVEL SUCCESS
If Castillo, Culpepper and Martin sign with the teams that drafted them, the Lancers are set to have nine players in minor league baseball this year, with Tyson Miller, Logan Rinehart, Andrew Bash, Damon Keith and Bryan Pope already there.

Miller is the highest draft pick in team history after the Chicago Cubs selected him in the fourth round at 134 overall in 2016. Miller is still in professional baseball with the Texas Rangers' Triple-A affiliate, the Round Rock Express, and has made four appearances at the MLB level.
Two former CBU baseball players have reached the top level of MLB over the last five years. Trevor Oaks became the first Lancer to appear in an MLB game when he started on the mound for the Kansas City Royals on April 28, 2018. Miller became the second CBU baseball player to appear in an MLB game when he started for the Cubs on August 17, 2020.
At least one Lancer has been selected in the MLB Draft in 12 of the last 13 years. The lone exception over the last 13 years was 2020, when MLB condensed the draft down to five rounds in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. CBU did see one of its recruits, Kala'i Rosario, drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the fifth round at 158 overall in 2020.
ONE OF THE BEST
CBU finished the 2022 season with a 36-20 record and finished runner-up in the WAC West Division in the regular season, with an 18-12 conference mark. It polished off one of the best four-year NCAA Division I transitions. The Lancers went 118-64 over the last four years, with a 64.8 winning percentage and consecutive WAC titles in 2019 and 2021. Their winning percentage is first among D-I teams in transitions since 1998, with the win total ranking sixth, despite the 2020 season being canceled just 15 games in due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
California Baptist's 110 wins in its first three full seasons are the second-most by any transitioning team in that time span. The Lancers' 35 wins in 2019 ranked third among teams in their debut D-I season, while their 40 wins ranked first among transitioning teams in their second full season.
